Many of his entries are of significance historically, for example, Stanley talks about passing the Kaiser's yacht and giving a salute. He also talks about racing back to port following the sinking of the Titanic and manouvering the ocean during the war. Stanley remembers helping to rescue British subjects from mainland Europe following the outbreak of war.
