Summer 2009 At The Gallery

June and July has seen large numbers of people visiting the gallery. The comments book is crammed full of compliments with many making the point that this exhibition is so important for St. Clears. Some have had difficulty finding the gallery even having asked people in the town for directions. There is no doubt that a permanent home in the town centre is required. The library might be a possibility as a place in the craft centre has not manifested.

Many people have managed to identify members of their family in the photographs and on the film. The exhibition will have to be taken down in Autumn because the walls get very damp. The town hall guttering is still leaking badly and the window panes need new putty.

The photography side of the studio will keep going. A new art exhibition is planned for 2010 with artists from the local area taking part. The craft centre has opened its doors but there appears to be a lack of local involvement in the exhibition space.

We were very surprised to be asked a question by a fifteen year old boy visiting the gallery recently. He asked why so much money had been spent on the craft centre when the town hall was left to rot. He continued, 'why do the town council meet in a craft centre when this is the town hall'?

We did not have an answer for him so we referred him to the town council. If anyone does have the answer to these questions, feel free to let us know and we will pass it on to him.
