BBC Film Of Exhibition
BBC Wales Today Presenter Sian Lloyd Visited The Studio To Film Our Exhibition. Stanley Phillips Has At Last Been Recognised For His Outstanding Work.
BBC Wales Today made a second visit to the studio gallery in St. Clears to film the progress which has been made. Sian Lloyd the presenter described the gallery as beautiful and fascinating. It was a live broadcast which gave St. Clears excellent coverage. The trailers ran throughout the day and focussed on the photographs and film of Stanley Phillips. Sian interviewed Alan Evans and was particularly interested in the multi media element of the exhibition. Alan pointed out that Stanley had photographed ordinary men and women but had also photographed people like Sir Malcolm Campbell, Parry Thomas, Amy Johnson and Wing Commander Ira Jones. Sian went on to interview 93 year old Frank Willey who had travelled from Cardiff especially for the programme. Frank described his childhood as a boy living at the station house. He relayed very fond memories of St. Clears and said that he always remembers his time here. Sian then interviewed Stella Griffiths and asked her to sum up how she felt about the exhibition. Stella said "It is a wonderful feeling to see the work on display at last' She said that she had always wanted to do something with her father's work and had left it too long. All of the people who were interviewed during the project were present and their combined ages totaled over 1,500 years. Alan presented them all with a mounted photographic portrait of themselves. Stella had also arranged a sumptious tea for everyone at her home. The vicar Reverend Brian Witt took time to talk to all the participants and was particularly impressed by the way 93 year old Frank Willey dashed up the town hall steps.
